Los Penasquitos Canyon Preserve
- April 19, 2021
Los Penasquitos Canyon Preserve provides a nice and long mild-moderate hike with beautiful creek crossings to cool off your furry friend or enjoy the nature views. The trails are shared with horses, bikes and walkers. It’s a gorgeous oasis nestled in the middle of a suburban neighborhood. Keep quiet and may catch a sigh of coyote and deer. When bringing your furry friend be sure to keep them on the leash always as the bushes and brush could be hiding ticks and rattle snakes and be sure to clean up after yourselves. The main, wider trails tend to get busy with mountain bikers, runners, and horses. Try to stay to the single track trails if you can, where the mountain bikers are not supposed to go. They’re prettier anyway and often provide more shade.
There are numerous areas to park for this hike that allow the hike to be longer or shorter based on your desires. If you put into your GPS the directions to the Penasquitos Ranch House, you will come upon several parking areas that will get you to the trail.
